Firearms and Ammunition Policy

Firearms, ammunition and firearm parts may only be transported in checked baggage and in the correct container or case. Firearms, ammunition and firearm parts are Prohibited from carry-on baggage.

Proflight Zambia will only allow transportation of sporting guns and hand guns as long as in a special hard-case carrier. This container will be carried in the hold (checked baggage).

Following is a summary of key regulatory requirements to transport sporting firearms, Handguns, firearm parts or ammunition in checked baggage:

Handling Fee

A U$30.00 handling fee is charged for the carriage of handguns, sporting rifles and their ammunition. Payment will only be accepted in the form of cash or credit card at the Proflight Zambia office at the Station of departure. (not at check-in)

Ammunition- a maximum of 5kgs, securely packed as detailed in the regulatory requirements will be permitted for carriage as a separate piece of baggage or within checked baggage. Ammunition must be declared in the same way as handguns or sporting rifles.

Arrival and Claiming your Firearm and/or Ammunition

Upon arrival at your destination please proceed to the departure hall where you will be handed your handgun/sporting rifle once it is offloaded from the aircraft. Under no circumstances will you be given your weapon from the aircraft. It is the responsibility of the Passenger to ensure that they have the correct documentation and allow ample time to process their firearms/ammunition through the correct channels. Failing this may result in denied boarding.
